What do you want from the SCBA..?

is preparing a report for the committee based on discovering what members want from the SCBA.

How can we make our competitions, such as the Felixstowe Congress, more attractive, more relevant? How do players decide to play a particular event or not? Travel? Cost of entry? Timing (time of year and duration of event)? Availability of Green Points? Are venue and refreshments important - would people pay more for nicer surroundings? Jeff is questioning many established aspects of bridge in the county so the association can make itself more relevant to bridge players today. He would be delighted to hear from you; email him by clicking on the link above or talk to him when you see him. More contact details on the Suffolk website.

And there is an opportunity to contribute yourself. After many years on the committee, most recently as chairman, Claude Stokes is stepping down at the next AGM in May 2008. As currently the vice-chairman post is vacant, the committee will necessarily have a new look next year. If you are interested in making a difference to Suffolk bridge, speak to any member of the committee, either personally, by telephone or email. All committee contact details are on the website.

The Lederer Memorial Trophy

Lederer 2007 presentation photoCareful readers of the EBU magazine English Bridge will have seen that this year the Lederer Memorial Trophy for invited teams was won by the Schapiro Spring Foursomes Winners. However, it is quite likely that few Suffolk members would have realised that the county had a representative in that extremely tough competition in the figure of David Price who moved to Sudbury a few years ago and who now plays for Suffolk.

That's him on the right with (left to right), Colin Simpson, Gunnar Hallberg and Andrew McIntosh with cup.
