The County Duplimate
The county possesses a duplicating machine as many will know. This deals sets of boards and allows the production of a print-out of the hands. Recently this has been upgraded and the deal records now include analysis of contracts achievable by either side.
Naturally, this resource is used for county events but it seems a shame to have the machine sitting around for large parts of the time, twiddling it thumbs (practising its shuffling?) and the committee would like to make it more available to clubs and individuals. Accordingly, for any Suffolk event, whether club based or between members (e.g. Summer League fixture, semi-final of County Knock-Out etc.) deals can be commissioned free. For any internal club event, there is a small charge of £5.00.
To get the dealt boards you will have to arrange picking up a box from and its eventual return but that can usually be done by a contact at Felixstowe or Ipswich.
Remembering…
2008 has not been a very good year for bridge players and the Suffolk association has lost more members than in the past. Some were prominent in the county or their clubs but all were people like us; people who enjoyed the game of bridge.
So as we reach the end of the year, we ask you to remember those that passed away in the last twelve months; Alan Barnes, Henry Cattini, Alan Day, Mrs E Glicksman, Audrey Hardingham, Janet Holbrook, Angela Mead, Harold Morris, Mark Osborn, Philip Penrice and Paddy Shannahan.
Double Dummy Problem Winners
Congratulations to Ralph Parish and Mick Spencer whose correct solutions to Julian Lang's Double Dummy Problem were first out of the hat - they each win £5.00. Whether you entered or not, you can check your answers against Julian's solution - the problem appears first for those who were intending 'to go back to it later'.
Bridge in the Cupboard
Ah … some festive cheer! It's Santa, the king of Hearts … well it couldn't be anyone else, could it?.

Daily Telegraph Cup
The county is normally geographically outside the catchment area for this teams of four event but a late change of date resulted in casting the net slightly wider. Consequently a Suffolk four, Peter Gemmell, Peter Sutcliffe, Jim Gobert and Chris Chambers were able to get in some practice before the Tollemache qualifier the following weekend.
