2011 Master Point Lists

National Call-Up for Suffolk Stars

Jane Moore wins national trials

Jane Moore

Congratulations to Suffolk's Jane Moore playing with Gillian Fawcett for winning the Lady Milne Trials. That selection competition forms the English Women's team in the home internationals. Jane and Gillian will represent England in Wales on 13th-15th April with Frances Liew, Belinda Bridgen, Nicole Cook and Christine Duckworth.

David Price

David Price wins play-off for Europeans

David Price was part of the team who won the play-off to represent England at the European Championships in Dublin in June. David plays with Colin Simpson the rest of the team is Paul Hackett, Tony Waterlow, Gunnar Hallberg and John Holland.

Bury St. Edmunds Congress

Sunday 12th February 2012, 11:00am, New Green Community Centre Thurston, a Swiss Teams event, entry £40 per team including refreshments.

Note the new, earlier start time, by popular request.

There are cash prizes for the top three teams and an ascenders' prize in case it doesn't start so well. For more details contact (01284 724165).

Jyl Marsh Individual

Sunday 19th February 2012, 2:00pm, Colchester. This event is the Suffolk Individual where each player partners as many of the field as numbers allow. The cost is £10 per player including tea.

The Jyl Marsh is hosted by Stratford St Mary Club who meet at the St Johns & Highwoods Community Centre, Colchester CO4 9SR.

Suffolk Pairs Semi-Final

Friday 24th February 2012, 7:00pm, Kesgrave. Did you qualify from your club last October for this, the next stage of the Suffolk Championship Pairs?

Sudbury/Colchester Swiss Teams

Sunday 4th March 2012, 2:00pm, Leavenheath. Sudbury and Colchester's annual Swiss Teams held as before at Leavenheath Village Hall, CO6 4NR. The cost is £28 per team; tea, coffee and soft drinks are provided but players are invited to bring their own food.

Suffolk Club Teams-of-Four

Sunday 11th March 2012, 2:00pm, Ipswich Indoor Bowls Club. The county event for teams made up of members from the same club. A club may enter any number of teams, the only stipulation is that players must be members of that club. The cost is £10 per player including tea.

2012 Norfolk Congress

King's Lynn. The 2012 Norfolk Congress will be held at the Duke's Head Hotel, King's Lynn, from Friday 30th March to Sunday 1st April. The Saturday and Sunday events are Green-Pointed, and there is a prize fund of approximately £1500 including prizes for the highest-placed Pair and Team all of whom are ranked below Regional Master.

Knock-out Stage

The top four teams advance to the semi-finals. As winners of the qualifier, Newman (Eric Newman & Mike Sherer, Rick Hanley & Bill Tweddell) have the right to choose their semi-final opponents and selected Shearman therefore Moore meet Orton in the other semi-final.

Newman against Shearman has been decided; Newman winning by 17 IMPs.

Suffolk Simultaneous Pairs 2011

Held in the last week of November and finalised in early December, 133 pairs from seven clubs took part. Clare featured prominently, providing first and third, sandwiching Stowmarket.

The first event of the new year was the Suffolk IMP pairs (teams scoring). This was won in fine style by Neil Bresler and David Cooper.
